***Who is He???

Jazz, Rhythm & Blues and Hip Hop are just a few of the common melodies you will hear in the great city of New Orleans where Kristofer Baptiste was born. Kris Baptiste self proclaimed as the Prince of R&B is a very outgoing person who has a strong passion for music and works tirelessly to fulfill his dream of one day becoming a superstar. With the discipline and molding of his family, the young artist tends to make positive music others can relate to as if the song was based on them. His style of singing, songwriting, and rapping is very unique and he has studied artists like Usher, Chris Brown, Trey Songz, and Mario to develop his own distinct sound. The 21 year old has performed and opened up for well known artist, such as Monica, Cupid, Cassidy, Freeway and Beanie Segal in the Philly’s Finest Tour. Kris’ song “Secret Lover,” has been played consistently throughout night clubs and radio stations across the New Orleans area. Throughout his career, he has received credit and awards from local talents shows, city functions and club competitions with the support of his fans. To hear the progression of his sound, his passion coupled with his desire and hard work will no doubt pay huge dividends in the end.

Featured Artist of the Week 8.1.2010 Presents: B Streezy

Welcome back Ladies and Gentleman, after a brief hiatus Sounds of the Underground is back with a BRAND NEW Featured Artist of the Week! This week's artist hails from New Orleans and is making quite the entrance on to the mainstream R&B scene. I proudly present to you B-STREEZY...B-Streezy is already experiencing success with his hit receiving local radio plays and rotation, in addition to an already growing fan base. Today, you will learn more about B Streezy the artist and the man. You will also get a chance to listen to his music and find out how you can contact him and get your hands on even more of his work. So sit back, relax & enjoy the sounds of B-Streezy...

***Who is He???

In 2009, B Streezy released his first independent album titled “The Love Story”, which sold 10,000 digital copies. His very first single titled “You” hit radio just weeks after the release of “The Love Story”. That year, B Streezy performed in over 6 different States and 26 different cities. His energetic, creativity and artistry are what generated great response from friends and fans alike.

You may ask where all this talent and drive derived from. From the beginning of his career, the core of B Streezy’s music reflects the heart of the south with his lively delivery and soulful presence. On stage and off, B Streezy is true to the art of entertainment. With the legendary sounds of Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye, Bobby Womack, Sam Cook, in his left hand and the modern appeal of Trey Songs, Mario, Usher, in his right, B Streezy fuses his style into chapters of a never ending story.

B Streezy was born Brandon Clay in the city of St. Rose, Louisiana. He started his musical journey at Little Zion Baptist Church where he song in the choir. He then branched off and became part of the ministering team. Although he loved singing and being an active member in church, somewhere down the line Brandon felt it was necessary to follow his heart’s own musical path. B Streezy credits his spiritual upbringing to being some would say “he is the most down to earth R&B artist they have every worked with.”

Now in 2010, B Streezy gained a lot of respect in New Orleans and in the music industry. He’s worked with major producers such as Sinasta, Blair Taylor, Mike Bass and many others. B Streezy has also worked with A-list local artist and national artist such as Currensy, Chopper City Boy Snipe, Raw Dizzy, C-Murder and Lil Boosie.

Currently B Streezy is working on his new album titled “On The Edge” while still pushing his first project. When asked about his new album B-Streezy responds “One The Edge” is filled with more upbeat track like my new single “She’s Bad’’ featuring LiL Boosie.” According to B Streezy, “This album will show off more of my personal character and help define why they call me “New Orleans Bad Boy of R&B” you will hear common life situation dealing with party, pleasure, and pain in a real edgy spectrum.”

FEATURED ARTIST of the WEEK 2/7/2010 Presents: JayeCane

I am proud to announce this week's Featured Artist of the Week "JayeCane"! JayeCane is a rising artist who is gracing the pages of magazines across the country. His style is very unique...raspy yet heavy and above all enticing...Ladies, he's definitely a looker...Guys, can relate to his lyrics & style...Let's take a closer look at JayeCane. And on Twitter, he has ALL the ladies wanting to be a #GOGirl...enjoy...

***Who Is He???

Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Jaye grew up in some of the most extreme situations ever;  having lost his mother, having a father on crack and being raised in foster homes, Jaye Canes pains became his catalyst to survive. Jaye Cane fell in love with Hip Hop at an early age and his interest then helped shape and mold the energetic, and driven artist he is known to be today. “I was very young when I had the thought... but it was only poetry then... at an early age I transformed my poetry into songs but never got in the recording studio until 23. The life I lead was harsh and the houses were always unstable, so the fact i can write words and feel better after, became my way of releasing and expression.”  Jaye Cane’s life being his driving force for inspiration he began to write and record. “Its life’s hardships and joyous moments that inspire me to write.” In his music you’ll find the true man behind the music, his deepest thoughts, passions, struggles, pains and accomplishments. “You can't learn what I know from books. I'm thankful for them all. I’m able to take my past and produce wisdom and inspiration to the youth. I got a million lives to save. My life and journey is what makes me special,” Jaye Cane states. Having the heart of a humanitarian makes his audience feel they can relate to him thus appreciating the music even more. He is “real.” Jaye speaks the truth with a mainstream appeal, a style of music that grabs listeners as radio worthy. “I say soul-tapping words. I'm a scientist. I take the worlds pain in and give you back a cure.” Jaye’s words speaks bounds like Tupac, having the capabilities to affect people when they hear him; He has the appeal of Ludacris, who has a charisma that can be excepted by all ethnic backgrounds and the writing capabilities of Eminem, writing in not only his own genre of Hip Hop but he writes songs for pop artist as well as R&B. Along with his own unique flare Jaye Cane is sure to deliver. A few of Jaye’s musical influences consist of Jay-Z, Nickel back, Brian Mc Knight, Creed, Whitney Houston and Rico Love. Although he has noted these influential people has having an impact on him as an artist and music that he creates, Jaye says he  would he be honored to do collaboration with “EVERYONE”, because they all have a piece that I have in me, that's what pushes me to be a part of this musical circle. It's like a long lost family; hopefully I will get the chance to meet them.”

Jaye Cane’s is not only a talented artist but he has a genuine effect on people through his music and there is a certainty that his message will be felt.  Jaye only hopes that his audience gets his message; he says, “I hope that they too can turn their lives around and come out on top no matter what the situation. I want the youth to use my words as blue prints for the tunnel of a reckless life or for learning how to love and let love. If it’s something you want GO FOR IT with passion and faith. As an artist I can only hope they will see my way of thinking.  I want them to say I changed a few lives and helped them see a way out of things that may have seemed like death was the only option.”  As Jaye Cane’s fan base grows, Jaye Cane cannot deny being in support of the well-being of all people. Jaye says, “I would sit and watch all the charity commercials and they use to make me Pain (ha-ha) i wanted to cry, so I would write down all the information and say that one day when I have a lot of money I will save all the poor sick and homeless people... I just can't help it. The Haiti situation, it hurts me so much that I can't save everyone in Haiti.”

Jaye Cane has a bright future ahead of him, with mix tapes, EP, MTV songs placements, writing songs for major artist & on tour with major record companies such as Universal records, Jive records and more. Jaye Cane is undeniably Next to Major!!
